The Ursuline Sisters of Brown County are inviting the Ursuline Sisters of Cincinnati and their Companions and the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and their Associates to view a live stream presentation on Immigration.

There will be a speaker from the Intercommunity Justice and Peace Center in Cincinnati and a DACA student. There will also be opportunities to write letters to legislators and to DACA students to support them.

Saturday, October 9 coincides with the October 8-17 DEATH PENALTY ABOLITION WEEK for Ohio Faith Communities. The Archdiocese of Cincinnati lends its support of this effort of respect for life. 

 

We Franciscan Friars invite you to join us in a letter writing campaign to our Ohio Legislators urging them to support HB 183 and SB 103.

 

The most impactful way to communicate with your elected officials is a personal letter, hand written, if possible. It is much more likely that elected officials will personally review hand written letters more than emails and phone messages.

We are asking each parishioner to bring in one of the suggested items which will be donated to Bethany House. School students will be bringing in items for Greater Cincinnati Coalition for the Homeless and Tender Mercies. The Student Council will be helping to assemble the bags.

The Sanctity of Life Ministry will be hosting our annual CELEBRATE LIFE Baby Shower on October 9/10.  This shower helps women in difficult situations who choose life.  We will be distributing invitations with a list of suggested gift ideas the weekend of October 2/3 and receiving donations the weekend of October 9/10. Let your service shine!  October 9 is a day of service across the Archdiocese in celebration of 200 years since its founding. We will be coming together with St. Francis Xavier parish and Church of the Resurrection, Xavier University and St. Xavier High School, for our fourth Active Discipleship Day, a day of prayer, service, reflection, and fun. We will gather in the Arrupe Overlook of the Gallagher Student Center on Xavier’s Campus on Saturday, October 9, 9 a.m., go out to service sites across the community, and return to campus for lunch and reflection, wrapping up by 1 p.m.

We will be assisting with pulling weeds, watering flowers, picking up trash and sweeping sidewalks and parking lots, etc. A representative from Parish Life will be on site at both locations to check you in, show you what needs to be done and provide light snacks, refreshments, and trash bags. The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur invite you to join Live the Good Volunteers at Tikkun Farm. At this 3.5 acre farm located in Mt. Healthy, we’ll be working on outdoor projects such as helping to plant a food forest and digging swales. These shallow ditches harvest rainwater for reuse. Indoor projects such as alpaca fiber washings, organizing and cleaning will be available as well.

St. William Church and School will be making lunches for St. Francis Seraph Ministries, to address hunger in our community. We are asking for food donations (bread, peanut butter, granola bars, fruit cups, water) to make healthy lunches for the homeless and hungry in our community. Collections can be dropped off in the boxes in the back of the church up to October 7th. The school and volunteers will help by packing the lunches in Father Reardon Hall that will be dropped off at St. Francis Seraph on Saturday so they can distribute the following Monday.

In partnership with Upspring, which serves Cincinnati area children who are homeless, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur will be assembling hygiene kits for boys and girls, ages 7 - 9.

On October 31st, 8th grade students will prepare and serve a meal at the Resource Outreach Center in St. Marys, Ohio.

 

Each Sunday, the ROC holds Brianna's Hope meeting for those suffering with addiction. Several years ago, Holy Rosary School took on the 5th Sunday of each month. We begin with prayer, serve food, and clean up afterward. 8th graders will purchase and prepare food, come that night for fellowship and serving others, and clean up as needed.

Bicentennial Bag-It!  - Anywhere

Members of St. Clare's parish in Cincinnati are inviting others to pick up litter in celebration of Laudato Si and the Bicentennial year. All info, including a form and place to submit a selfie is included in the attachment. They have a goal of collecting 200 bags of trash!

Global Action

Catholic Central School in Springfield is planning to host a food packing event on Saturday, October 9 to benefit Lesotho Nutrition Initiative and pack meals to send to Lesotho.

Catholic Central School in Springfield will partner with Lesotho Nutrition to pack meals which will be distributed.

Blanket Making

St. Brigid in Xenia, St. Augustine in Jamestown, and St. Paul in Yellow Springs gather on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 10:00 am and knot-tie blankets and donate them to the Navajo Reservation in Tuba Arizona.

Puzzles Drive

Seton High School will be making Halloween themed inspirational puzzles for elementary students in need on October 11.

Serve Lunch

Holy Trinity Parish in Dayton will be partnering with House of Bread toe prepare and serve lunch to neighbors.

Donations

Church of the Incarnation will hold a clothing and food drive during Masses to support Good Shepherd Ministries in Dayton.

Food Distribution

Marianists ( Lay, Brothers, Sisters and Priests)  Day of Service at the Mission of Mary Farm in Dayton. 9 to noon; including prayer. 45-55 persons involved with cleaning up the gardens and distributing food.

Mercy McAuley High School is highlighting organizations on their Mercy Day and will complete some school-wide service projects!

Assemble Items

Assumption Parish in Mount Healthy will be assembling 300 layettes for Elizabeth's New Life Center. Children will make cards.

Race Relations

18 University of Dayton students will participate in "Tolten to Ferguson", MO.  Race relations and service. October 6-10

Global Action

During advisories in October, St. Ursula Academy will have a monetary collection to support global non-profits working with refugees, specifically Afghanistan

Creation Care

Sacred Heart School's  Environmental Warriors Club will lead members in weeding, pruning and cleaning up the school's pollinator garden.

Fundraiser

On Saturday, Oct. 9, students from Elder High School will be volunteering for a fundraiser for LoveQuest Children’s Foundation.

Park Clean Up

60 University of Dayton students involved in service projects in the city of Dayton on  Friday and Saturday, October 8 and  9
